Job Description

The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Physiotherapist. WAHA is the leading health care provider on the western James Bay coast. WAHA comprises of hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, with a Health Centre in Moosonee. WAHA also provides regional outpatient programs, as well as Paramedicine services in Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, and Peawanuck. The span of services, complexity of care needs in the region, and the depth of health integration has made WAHA a leader and a model of health care services in Northern Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment, treatment, and education to all inpatient, outpatient, and regional clients
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate methods of treatment while modifying when necessary
  • Contributes to departmental operational plan while advancing the goals and objectives of the organization
  • Develops, establishes, and maintains standards of knowledge, skills, and competence by developing programs to promote continuing education
  • Comply with all regulations and professional directives as provided by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Current registration with College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Masters degree in Physical Therapy
  • Experience working in a hospital setting is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large/diversified workload with rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
  • ADP authorizer for mobility devices (wheelchairs & walkers) – or willing to obtain
  • Knowledge and sensitivity of Indigenous health issues and of the geographic region
