Volunteer Opportunities

Become a District President

Districts bring a broad base of support and the unique perspective of local health issues and professional matters to the provincial level.

District Presidents have key responsibilities that include selecting representatives to participate as voting delegates at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and serving as the primary contact between the district and OPA staff, as well as the Board.

We are currently seeking a Durham District President and Northwestern Ontario District President.

Join an OPA Committee

OPA has a series of standing committees that advise the Board of Directors and staff on issues and matters related to the provision and promotion of physiotherapy services within each sector in Ontario. They meet every quarter, creating a knowledge exchange and a pathway to ensure that the Board is aware of issues experienced by members.

Our current standing Committees are the Hospital Advisory Committee, Home Care Advisory Committee, Primary Care Committee, Private Practice Committee, and the Education Committee. OPA also has committees that support key corporate functions, including the Awards Committee, Governance Committee, and Finance Committee.

Join the Board of Directors

Every year, OPA invites members to apply for the Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of nine physiotherapist volunteers elected by the membership.

As the governing body of the Association, the Board is responsible for setting policies and strategic directions, determining the budget, and hiring the Chief Executive Officer to implement the Association’s programs.

The call for nominations is typically released by September, with nominations due in November.
