Outcome Measures and Data Collection Tools
Data collection tool for hospital physiotherapists
Are you being asked to defend your program or position, but can’t access the data to back it up?
In light of the need for more evidence to support publicly funded physiotherapy in hospitals, the Ontario Physiotherapy Association has developed a suggested framework for data collection in hospitals. The framework has been developed based on data obtained from CIHI holdings and from the Hospital Advisory Committee of the OPA. The tool is meant to be applicable to all areas of physiotherapy practice within hospitals.
The tool was created in MS Excel with simplicity and the constraints of time in mind. Minimal information is required to be inputted in order to capture the picture of the effectiveness and efficiency of physiotherapy services. In addition, because it is very generic, it becomes a very diverse tool that can be used in multiple facets of physiotherapy care.
