Welcome to the Central Toronto District (CTD) of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. The Central Toronto District is the largest district within OPA. We organize a variety of events and meetings for OPA members to attend.

MEET YOUR DISTRICT TEAM

Tiffany Tiu, Co-President

Tiffany-Tiu-pictureTiffany is a recent MScPT graduate from the University of Toronto and practices orthopaedic physiotherapy. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Having served on the Central Toronto District executive committee for 2 years as a student representative with Simona, she is excited to take on a leadership role for the district with Simona. Outside of CTD, she is passionate about elevating the standards of physiotherapy practice through facilitating knowledge translation, critical thinking, and discussion on topics related to pain and physiotherapy on Paincast, a CPA Pain Science Division podcast. She is also an active clinician researcher at the Biomechanics lab at the University of Toronto.

Simona Kukuruzovic, Co-President

Simona is a recent graduate from the University of Toronto MScPT program, and now practices as a Physiotherapy Resident in a private practice setting. She was involved on CTD as a student representative for the last two years, and wanted to continue to pursue her passion for advocacy and community involvement efforts. She’s thrilled to continue working alongside Tiffany, and to step into a new role as Co-Presidents.

Jackie Tucker, Secretary

Jackie-Tucker-pictureJacki is a Physiotherapy Resident and a recent graduate of the MScPT program at the University of Toronto. She currently treats both Orthopaedic and Neurological clients at ALPHA Health Services. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Jacki has a deep passion for the outdoors and is an avid skier, hiker, and golfer. She is also passionate about the transformative impact of physiotherapy on quality of life and is committed to advancing the profession through knowledge translation and advocacy. Jacki previously sat on the student sub-committee of the Neurosciences division and is excited to continue organizing professional development initiatives.

Lisa Azuma, Executive Member

Lisa-Azuma-pictureLisa has been a CPA member for over 10 years. Lisa currently works at Providence Healthcare as a Physiotherapist and Clinical Educator in the Orthopaedic and Amputee program. With experience working in rehab, acute care and private practice, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.

Charlotte Anderson, Board Liaison

CharlottCharlotte-Anderson-picturee (MSc PT, PhD)  is a Director on the OPA Board and represents the Board on the Central Toronto District. She is an Assistant Professor at the U of T and CEO of ALPHA Health Services. Her main practice is in Toronto, although she works in Ontario and the Yukon as a physiotherapist.

Iris Wang, UofT Student Rep Yr 2

Iris is a second-year MScPT student at the University of Toronto and excited to continue her second year working on the CTD as a student representative. Originally from Hamilton, ON, Iris spends her free time reading, playing a myriad of sports with friends at the gym, or running along the waterfront! Iris’s passions lie in community-building, leadership, and advocacy, which she will continue to refine her skills in as the President of the CPA National Student Assembly and a member of the UofT IPHSA Outreach Subcommittee.

Catherine is a second-year Physical Therapy student at the University of Toronto. In her free time, she loves to go hiking, explore cafes, and is involved in various philanthropic initiatives and organizations advocating for underprivileged communities across Canada. Catherine is eager to combine her passion for advocacy, leadership, and giving back to make a meaningful impact on her community throughout her career as a compassionate physiotherapist.

Stephanie Evans, UofT Student Rep Yr 1

Stephanie-Evans-pictureStephanie is a first-year Physical Therapy student at the University of Toronto. She is also a first year Professional Development Director for the MScPT program and is excited to be a part of the CTD. Stephanie is originally from Burlington, ON and has experience volunteering in both neurological rehabilitation, MSK and pelvic health. She also has a passion for advocacy through her work with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and Girls SySTEM Mentorship. Stephanie is eager to learn more about the profession and advocate for her fellow students and practicing physiotherapists.

Mia is a first-year Physical Therapy student at the University of Toronto. She is originally from Kitchener, Ontario and excited to be living in the city. She has an interest in practicing as a private MSK physiotherapist upon graduation, and has a special interest in pelvic health.
