Physiotherapy is evolving in Ontario. With change comes new opportunities and a drive for physiotherapists to step into innovative new roles as the leaders of modern-day healthcare. In the spirit of the night’s theme, the Westgate District executive team is honoured to feature two guest speakers at our General Meeting who embody the qualities of innovation and leadership in the physiotherapy profession.
Marcia Correale, PT is the Toronto practice lead for ISAEC (Inter-professional Spine Assessment and Education Clinics), an Ontario government-funded program that utilizes physiotherapists in a multidisciplinary setting to assess and triage spinal patients in an effort to decrease the prevalence of unmanageable chronic low back pain, reduce unnecessary diagnostic imaging and unnecessary specialist referral.
With great successes in Toronto, Hamilton, and Thunder Bay, the ISAEC model of care will be recruiting physiotherapists as part of a province-wide expansion to the Hamilton-Halton LHIN from 2017-2018. This is an incredible opportunity for practitioners in the Westgate district to learn more about the program and how to get involved!
Emily Stevenson, PT is a Physiotherapist Lead for Community Health Centres in the Toronto Central LHIN and leader in primary health care. As a clinician at the East End CHC and member of the OPA Primary Care Advisory Committee, she has played an active role in the integration of physiotherapists in inter-professional primary care.
Emily will be sharing her experiences with the Westgate district as well as discussing the current impact of implementing physiotherapy in Community Health Centres.
We’ll see you Friday, October 27 to enjoy some wine and cheese as you mingle with fellow Westgate professionals and learn about some exciting new ways in which #physiohelpslives!
