Brief Description

We’re holding our Foundations course twice in Toronto in Spring 2025 – March 28-30 and again May 2-4, if the March dates interfere with your OCEs. And there’s a fall 2025 course too.

Acupuncture training and certification starts with the Foundations of Anatomical Acupuncture (AA1) course from Acupuncture Canada. Our program offers a paced, supported online training component combined with in-person, hands-on skills training to ensure you become a safe and effective practitioner. Acupuncture training can help you improve treatment outcomes and grow your practice.

The Foundations (AA1) course introduces you to the history of acupuncture and the current research underlying the physiological mechanisms of acupuncture and how it works from the anatomical perspective. You will explore the meridian system and how this integrates with the anatomical approach. At the end of this course, you will be able to locate and provide the rationale for 35+ acupuncture points for treatment of a variety of conditions including whiplash, frozen shoulder, back, hip, knee, ankle, and foot pain.

The Foundations course starts with a 4-week online study component, including videos, narrated PPTs, quizzes and case management plans. Online study is followed by a 3-day intensive in-person component where students work in small groups with experienced instructors, to learn safe, effective needling techniques. After the course, you will be able to start simple treatment of acute and chronic pain problems, with an emphasis on musculoskeletal pain, within your scope of practice.

The faculty team – selected physiotherapists, medical doctors, chiropractors, and acupuncturists – are all currently practicing experts in their clinical application of acupuncture.

The separate online and onsite components mean flexibility in study. There are multiple online start dates with each in-person component. Choose your separate online and onsite start dates when you register, to fit your busy schedule.

2025 courses are being held in Toronto:

  • March 28-30, 2025 (with online start date options of January 6 or 20th, or February 3rd or 24th)
  • May 2-4, 2025 (with online start date options of February 24th or March 24th or 31st)
  • October 24-26, 2025 (with online start date options of August 4th or 25th, or September 15th)
