June is National Indigenous History Month and we honour and celebrate the history, culture and diversity of the Indigenous peoples of Canada.
The remains of 215 children were recently discovered at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation. This tragedy shows us that we have a long way to go to fully know and understand the truth and history so that we can move forward with meaningful reconciliation and address the inequity and injustices at all levels experienced by generations of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people.
