Awareness of the prevalence of wounds and their negative impact on patients and patient care costs has increased as a result of recent demographic, economic, and legislative changes in the health care environment. Current literature and both Canadian and international wound care organizations recommend inter-disciplinary wound care teams to assess and treat individuals with chronic wounds. Physiotherapists in Ontario have the authority to treat wounds below the dermis and this is a growing area of practice for the profession.
This in-person workshop is the second step (level 2) of an evidence based, multi-level educational program created in partnership with the Canadian Physical Therapy Wound Care Collaborative designed for physiotherapists wishing to pursue practice in wound care management.
