May is National Physiotherapy Month and physiotherapists, physiotherapist assistants and physiotherapy students across Canada celebrate their profession and show how #PhysioHelpsLives in so many ways. With events across the province and the country, National Physiotherapy Month (NPM) is a time to share about the value of physiotherapy and how physiotherapists and physiotherapist assistants are important for a stronger and healthier life.
This year National Physiotherapy Month focuses on how physiotherapists help people living with chronic pain to live more pain-free and reduce the need for prescription drugs such as opioids. As part of a national awareness campaign the Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA) joins with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and other provincial and territorial associations to share how early and timely access to physiotherapy makes a real difference for those experiencing chronic pain. Find out more about how #PhysioHelpsLives ease chronic pain at DiscoverPhysiotherapy.ca and physiocanhelp.ca.
Members of OPA can access resources to hold events locally and share how #PhysioHelpsLives in their community including presentations for students, members of their community or to other health care practitioners. Complimentary promotional items are available while supplies last to share at the various events they attend such as fun-runs or walks, open houses, presentations at long-term care facilities, in hospitals and in the community. Non-members are welcome to order items at a cost. Find out more here or order items in the Store.
The Canadian Physiotherapy Association also creates engagement tools to help members share and educate about their profession. Find out more about CPA NPM resources here.
Promote your profession this May and then share how you got involved online including #PhysioCanHelp and#PhysioHelpsLives.
