5 day Advanced Bobath Course Connecting Upper and Lower Limb Function: Exploring the relationship of postural control and inter-limb coordination by Julie Vaughan-Graham
This is an Advanced level course providing an opportunity for in-depth exploration of the relationship of postural control and inter-limb coordination. Postural control is a pre-requisite for all activities of daily living, including reaching and locomotion. Both reaching and locomotion include the whole-body kinetic chain, including the limbs that are not directly involved in the activity. The theoretical component of this course will explore how the central nervous system accomplishes the task of coupling and de-coupling the limbs.
Through patient demonstrations, patient treatment sessions and practical sessions the course participant will gain an opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into clinical applications to address postural control and inter-limb coordination problems to facilitate their professional practice knowledge development with respect to the Bobath concept. The model of Bobath clinical practice will be utilized to explore clinical reasoning at an Advanced level.
